MARILYN Torr, who has been at the helm of Boronia Park Public School for 15 years, has announced her retirement.
Miss Torr’s last day at the school, on Pittwater Rd, Hunters Hill, will be Friday, July 2.
The day before, however, on Thursday, July 1, Boronia Park School Association is hosting a special event in her honour, from 4pm to 6pm.
Boronia Park School Association president Kate Murphy, who has two boys at the school in year 5 and year 3, said: “Pupils both past and present, parents and families are invited to join us in celebrating her contribution to our community.”
After a short presentation by the current School Association - with assistance from some surprise participants - afternoon tea will be provided by current families at the school.
“Miss Torr has been a driving force behind the spirit of Boronia that makes our school such a great place to be associated with,” Ms Murphy said.
“Over the years she has had a huge influence on many people, so the School Association wants to invite all of those people to come along on July 1 to show our combined appreciation for a job well done and wish her well in what sounds like a very active retirement that she has planned.”
