21 July 2010 TO THE POINT with Peter Astridge To The POINT With Peter Astridge

MOOCOOBOOLA’S 31st annual festival on Sunday August 1 will will be a visually stunning and incredibly energetic all-day show - from the Grand Parade at 9.30am to day’s end.
All three stages offer dazzling continuous entertainment including jazz, rock and bluegrass with non-stop performances of live music, dancing, entertainment and great fun for the kids.
Exotic, basic and specialty foods along with wine or beer will be available and in addition to art works, simply shop from over 200 stalls, where there will be many useful wares, including designer clothing.
The Aboriginal name for Hunters Hill is Moocooboola, which means “meeting of waters”. It is the peninsula between Henley and Buffalo creek and extends to where the Lane Cove and Parramatta rivers meet to the east.
The Moocooboola Festival can be reached by bus or ferry and there is a free, continuous local bus service throughout the day to Boronia Park and return. (Contact Hunters Hill Council for further information.)

COMPLETE WITH ABBA authenticity, Moocooboola will present Abbalanche who will perform live on the lower oval stage after lunch. Abbalanche will take you back in time with their sing-a-long ballads and dance floor numbers you know so well, including hits like Dancing Queen, Waterloo, Mamma Mia, Fernando and others.
This year’s festival will be held on Boronia Park’s three ovals with plenty of parking on No 3 oval via Princes St.
Watch out for the traditional Grand Parade which will kick off at 9.30 am at the corner of Princes and Farnell Streets, and then proceeds to Ryde Rd.
The parade will then enter the No 1 oval at Park Road, next to the Grandstand where the festival opens.
The public can line the streets north and south of Ryde Road and cheer on parade participants as they march or ride to the fair.

IF YOU get lost, or loose the kids, look for the large balloons in the sky and under these balloons you’ll see the Hunters Hill Council tent with lots of useful information. You can also use this area as a meeting place for the family.
Carnival rides, a circus playground, pony rides, animal farms, and face painting competitions will be available for the kids and for the first time local sporting and scout groups will be running fun challenges and surprises for all age groups.
The dog show starts at 11am with registrations at 10.30 am on the top oval (1) in front of the jazz stage. All dogs must be accompanied by their owner and be on a lead.
Our leading politicians and councillors have been invited so you could get to meet and speak with them.
I would like to thank our sponsors, the Moocooboola committee members, and Adrian Black, who makes this grand festival possible every year.
