|If you’re keen to give back to your community and learn more about tax, you should consider volunteering for the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) Tax Help program.
The Tax Help program is a free and confidential service for those who need help completing their tax returns online. As a Tax Help volunteer, you will join a network of hundreds of other volunteers who in 2016 assisted more than 30,000 individuals complete their tax returns.
The program runs from July to October 2017 in community centres, libraries and other community organisations across Australia.
Don’t worry if you don’t have any tax knowledge – you and your fellow Tax Help volunteers will be trained and accredited by the ATO prior to the program commencing. All you need is a few hours to spare each week and a passion for helping those in your community.
You’ll also be reimbursed for any relevant out-of-pocket expenses, like travel and phone calls.
